Women Empowerment Week celebrations and Awareness class by civil police officer

There was a time when women of our country were treated worse , denying their rights to even express themselves. Decades later, in this 21st century, the scenario is not much different. It's true that today women are in a far better place compared to our ancestors. The wars they fought for a better future surely did not go to vain. But even today the world is hard on women. Physically, mentally and emotionally it's draining her, Suppressing her voice. She is not even safe in her home. So the world needs to know the inequality we are facing And embrace equity.

With this concern in mind , The women development cell of our college, NSS TRAINING COLLEGE OTTAPALAM conducted so many programmes. The inauguration session was conducted on March 1,2023 by Mrs. Bindhu VB, civil police officer, ottapalam police station. She talked about the issues women face in today's world and legal solutions for them. She shared her experiences as a women police officer. Her words intrigued us because it was not a regular speech but was the reflection of her police journey.

She spoke  about the relevant social issues that are happening in our society. She shared several experiences like, the case of drug usage among school students, the cases related to girls at the age of 14 and issues faced by the women in public places, also making us aware about the legal consequences related to it.

The session started with prayer . The  student coordinator, Anjitha K J , 1st year B.Ed student ,delivered the welcome speech. Our Women’s Cell teacher Coordinator Dr.Seema Menon K P rendered the presidential address. The session continued as our chief guest Bindhu VB, CPO,  inaugurated the program, followed by the class conducted by her. At the end of the session students shared their bitter experiences and issues they faced and the CPO answered how police can help them to solve their problems. Finally the session concluded through the vote of thanks delivered by the women development cell member, Reshmi S  from the M.ed 2nd year.

Feedback from the students, teachers and entire college staff about this class was very blissful. It was very informative and it helps the students to think how to react against these types of issues. Ma'am speaks about the different sections of cases and how to get help by the court and she shared the emergency call numbers for our protection.
