Panel Discussion - "Sthreedana Maranangal; Utharavaadhi Aaru?"















Considering the continuous reports of dowry deaths in Kerala, in the last few days, Women’s cell (2020-2022) of NSS Training College, Ottapalam, organized a panel discussion on the topic “Sthreedhana Maranagal; Utharavaadhi Aaru?” (Dowry deaths; Who is responsible?) on 25th June, 2021, on the google meet platform. The session started at 8 am and continued till 9 am. It was indeed an in depth talk where almost 170 students from B. Ed and M. Ed. participated. The session started with prayer and aacharyaanusmaranam. The welcome speech was done by Women’s cell student coordinator Ms. Meghana V from first year B.Ed. There were a total seven persons on the speaker’s panel; Abdul Rahman (1st year B. Ed. English), Sruthi K Kumar (M.Ed.), Sreekala (1st year B.Ed. Natural Science), Silfa Anna Joy (1st year B.Ed. Physical Science), Sujitha T ( M.Ed.), Anjitha P (1st year B.Ed. Malayalam) and Reshma T ( 1st year B. Ed. Maths). Women’s Cell member Ms. Saranya P was the moderator. The talk started by expressing views on this issue, by each person, who were in the panel. Once this was done moderator welcomed the participants’ views on this regard. Thoughts, views and opinions shared by both students and faculties made the discussion more fruitful. The one-hour session which discussed the socio- cultural and economic aspects of this particular problem of dowry went on marvellously by the active participation of both students and faculties; Dr. Sankaranarayanan Paleeri, Dr. Mridula K and Dr. Seema Menon K P ( Women's cell coordinator). It was a discussion which was to the point and was highly critical of the existing dowry system, outdated customs, ineffective law, social fear, gender roles and some general patterns of society. The session was concluded by the moderator by stating it’s a high time to sweep out the dowry system and domestic violence on women. This panel discussion unanimously stressed on the need of womanhood to be educated and to be socially and economically independent. Women’s cell member Ms. Binisha V delivered a vote of thanks for the session, with a special mention to the technical support provided by a few students for conducting such a discussion in the online platform. The meeting dispersed after the national anthem.

Women's Day Celebrations 2020 - 2021

 


International women’s day celebrations

Today world international women’s day. This year, the theme for International Women’s Day (8 March), “Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world,” celebrates the tremendous efforts by women and girls around the world in shaping a more equal future and recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and highlights the gaps that remain. Our college women cell celebrated women’s day in a splendid way. Through online platform all the programs were conducted and it came out well. The program started with prayer and welcome note by Meghna V (Women’s Cell Coordinator- B.Ed). Our Women’s Cell teacher Coordinator Dr.Seema Menon K P rendered the presidential address.  Our dear Principal Dr. Ampili Aravind officially inaugurated the ceremony and gave Inaugural address. Our chief guest Dr.Sini Jose, Assistant Professor, Department Of English, Government College, Peringone, Kannur. She delivered really thought provoking speech and enriched us all. She enlightened us with her wonderful message which are to be practically followed in all walks of our lives. She focused that women should be efficient and effective in all areas and should deny any of  these pleasure to a women. Dr.MiniKumari Staff Secretary addressed the gathering and felicitated the occasion. Dr Sethu S Nath Staff Advisor shared her views in the auspicious occasion. Devisree (Women Cell Member) proposed the vote of thanks. The celebration of women day went on marvellously.

“Magic In Minutes”

Women’s Cell 2020 - 21

Nss Training College Otappalam Women’s Cell 2020- 21 organised online cookery program “Magic In Minutes”



– Live demonstration by the famous culinary consultant Mrs. Zera Paul in association with Nestle India Ltd. The program was scheduled on 6th February 2021, 4 pm.  In this pandemic situation our team Women’s Cell were able to conduct an online live demonstration of culinary art through google meet and youtube live streaming. Women’s cell teacher coordinator and Associate Professor of NSS Training College Dr. Seema Menon K P. gave the welcome address and initiated the session followed by the live demonstration by our extinguished guest Mrs. Sera Paul. In the one hour live session Madam Sera was able to touch the hearts of the audience through her catching presentation and expression. She prepared three dishes. The items presented during the demonstration was really good and mind blowing. Dr. Minikumari D, Assistant Professor Women’s Cell Executive expressed her gratitude to each and everyone the session was was concluded by vote of thanks.
