Women Empowerment Week

The women development cell of Nss training college,  ottapalam celebrated the one week long  Women Empowerment Week with various types of competitions like essay writing competition,  slogan making competition,  photography competition,  poster making competition, drawing competition, and collage making competition . The programmes were conducted as online competitions and was a huge success.

Kanal Fest

Women cell of NSS Training college have conducted KANAL FEST in collaboration with department of women and child development, NSS unit and IQACC. The programme was started with a prayer and was followed by a welcome speech by Mr Nithin C C (Gender Specialist, Palakkad) the Programme was inaugurated by college principal Dr. Ampili Aravind Mam, and presidential address by SMT. Sreeja P M The program was felicitated by Dr. Seema Menon K. P (women development cell teacher coordinator), DR. Lekshmi V (Staff secretary), MR. Suresh Kumar K (Office Head) and women development cell student coordinator rendered vote of thanks.
        Kanal fest was conducted as a three-section programme first section was gender awareness class by Smt Anjana A. these classes enhance understanding of gender-related issues, breaking down stereotypes and misconceptions. Participants gain insights into the diverse experiences and challenges faced by different genders. Participants learn effective communication strategies that foster respectful and inclusive dialogue, contributing to healthier relationships both personally and professionally.
          Second section was a self-defence training by Rajeena V P, Sreenitha M (Kerala police Palakkad women cell coordinators) the Kerala Police's self-defence program is a commendable initiative aimed at empowering individuals with essential skills to protect themselves. By promoting self-reliance and resilience, the Kerala Police's self-defence program contributes to overall community safety and creates a proactive approach to personal security. This initiative not only imparts physical skills but also in stils a sense of confidence and mental preparedness, reinforcing the notion that everyone has the right and ability to protect themselves. Through such initiatives, the Kerala Police plays a crucial role in building a safer and more resilient society.
           Kanal fest was very informative and interesting programme conducted by women cell. it serves as a catalyst for positive change, fostering an environment where everyone, regardless of gender, can thrive and contribute to the community.

Women and Legal Security

 Women and legal security is a crucial aspect of ensuring equality, protection, and empowerment. Legal security refers to the guarantee of legal rights, protection against discrimination, and access to justice for all individuals. Unfortunately, women have historically faced systemic challenges in various legal systems around the world, making it imperative to address these issues to enhance the legal security of women.On February 7nd, 2024 an awareness class has been conducted about the topic ' Woman and Legal Security ' on behalf of Women Development Cell,  NSS training college Ottapalam.  The program was held on college auditorium at 10.00 am to 12.30 pm , under the supervision of the teacher coordinator Dr. Seema Menon KP . The class was conducted by Binu Ramachandran, Civil Police Officer Ottapalam Police Station.
     Legal security for women is essential for fostering a society where women can live free from discrimination, violence, and inequality. By addressing legal gaps and ensuring equal protection, societies can empower women to fully participate in social, economic, and political life, contributing to a more just and equitable world.

Women and Cancer


Women and Cancer

Nowadays cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide.  Be it a newborn baby or a 80 year old person, age doesn't matter to be affected by this condition. And so does the gender. But many are unaware about the seriousness of the disease. And it is important to have knowledge about what cancer really is and how it affects people. On February 5nd, 2024 an awareness class has been conducted about the topic ' Cancer and women ' on behalf of Women Development Cell,  NSS training college Ottapalam.  The program was held on college auditorium at 10.00 am to 12.30 pm , under the supervision of the teacher coordinator Dr. Seema Menon KP . The class was conducted by Dhara VC coordinator of welfare trust ottapalam.
      The class has created a general awareness about the condition,  its symptoms, treatment and prevention of different types of cancers.  The class emphasized that the root cause of cancer  are the lifestyle changes occurring in the current situation. The class winded up with the clear picture of healthy lifestyle habits and cancer prevention methods.

Life skills - A Blue print of Life

  Women development cell of NSS Training college have conducted a Lecture on the topic “Life Skills - A Blueprint of Life” in collaboration with Ottapalam Welfare Trust , NSS unit and IQACC. The programme was started with a prayer and was followed by a welcome speech by Mr Vidhya (Student coordinator WDC) the Programme was inaugurated by college principal Dr. Ampili Aravind Mam, and presidential address by Dr.Seema Menon K P(Teacher coordinator WDC). On February 2nd, 2024 an awareness class has been conducted about the topic ' Life skills - A  Blue print of Life ' on behalf of Women Development Cell,  NSS training college Ottapalam.  The program was held on college auditorium at 10.00 am to 12.30 pm , under the supervision of the teacher coordinator Dr. Seema Menon KP . The class was conducted by Krishna Das Ottapalam, Psychologist & Family Therapist.
          As we are living in the 21st century,  where technology advances at rapidity, in splits of seconds, it's very important to make Teachers and Students competent, and expert in gaining pace with the changes of the hazel world. Life skills are a set of basic skills acquired through learning and/or direct life experience that enable individuals and groups to effectively deal with issues and problems encountered in everyday life. They include creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and collaboration skills, as well as personal and social responsibility that contribute to good citizenship – all of which are essential skills for success in the twenty-first century.  Krishna Das Ottapalam -an eminent person in the field of psychology, gave an insightful lecture on the topic of Life Skills. The Students were actively involved in the session. He has drawn students' attention towards several matters and issues that happening around the world and opened the locks of their minds to find out ways to resolve them through life skills.  and women development cell student coordinator rendered vote of thanks.

Free eye check up camp

Women cell of NSS Training college have conducted a free eye check-up camp in collaboration with OWT Eye Care Hospital NSS unit and IQACC. The programme was started with a prayer and was followed by a welcome speech by Dr. Seema Menon K. P, coordinator of the women cell and the Programme was inaugurated by college principal Dr. Ampili Aravind Mam, OWT Eye Care Hospital coordinator delivered a speech about the importance of regular check-up student coordinator rendered vote of thanks. The program was felicitated by women cell representative. 
Organizing a Free Eye Check-up Camp in a college setting can be a valuable initiative to prioritize the eye health of students and staff. The significance of such camps lies in their ability to address eye health disparities and ensure that everyone, regardless of financial constraints, has access to essential eye care services. These camps generally provide a range of services, starting with basic vision screenings to more comprehensive eye examinations. The success of Free Eye Check-up Camps relies heavily on collaboration among healthcare professionals, volunteers, and community organizations. Volunteers often play a pivotal role in organizing and facilitating these camps, ensuring smooth operations and a welcoming environment for attendees. Through collaboration, careful planning, and community involvement, such events can have a lasting positive impact on the eye health of the college population.
