Celebration of International YOGA day

On June 21 2024 N.S.S Training college Ottappalam Women development cell in association with NSS unit has arranged a yoga session in addition to the international yoga day. Principal prof. Dr Ampili Aravind inaugurated the program.Prof.Dr Seema Menon K.P led the session.Different yogasanas,pranayama and meditation were practiced in the session.Teacher delivered a talk on the importance of yoga and meditation in day today life.All B.Ed and M.Ed students participated in the class.

                     A yoga pose photo contest was conducted among the students.1st year M.Ed student Anju and 1st year B.Ed student Sr.Mary Varghese won the 1st and 2nd prizes respectively.

Nutritional Awareness Class & Awareness Class About HIV&AIDS

As today the youth suffers due to many health issues it is very important to have a knowledge about nutritional diet which help us to live a healthy life. By aiming to give nutritional awareness to the students Women Development Cell coordinated a nutritional awareness class on June 20, 2024. The class was taken by Asna Sherin, Dietician, Taluk Hospital, Ottapalam. She explained very well about the nutritional foods that must included in our diet, how to eat food properly, what are the effects of not having enough nutrition in our body etc. The students get chances to ask their doubts and clear it from an expert. She noted the weight, height and age of the students by circulating a paper in between the class. Students listened the class and asked doubts which shows the class was effective and help them to increase their knowledge about nutrition Followed by the nutritional class a class about HIV and AIDS was held on the same date by Women Development Cell. The class was taken by Reshma, ICTC counsellor, Taluk Hospital, Ottapalam who discussed about AIDS, Balakrishnan, Counsellor, Case and support centre, Palakkad and Jijesh, TB unit, Taluk Hospital, Ottapalam who shares his knowledge about TB and it's chances with AIDS. 

        The class helped the students to renew their knowledge about AIDS and avoid social stigma about AIDS. The class was effective and help the children to know more about AIDS and it's statistics from the ones who have first hand experience. Also they got an opportunity to ask their doubts freely which helped to remove myths about AIDS. The class was very useful for everybody who attented and it helped to increase the harmonious living in society.

MOTHER'S DAY CELEBRATION

Mother's day celebration 

As part of mother's day celebration Women Development Cell conducted various competitions. A letter writing competition on the topic " Letter to your mother / mother-in-law " which provides a chance to the participants to open up about the warmth they received from their mother. A photography competition also conducted on the topic " Moments of serenity ". As photographs can pause the moment and store it with the same emotion it aims to receive evidences of loving moments. 

          Mothers are the ones who works 24 hours in a day to hold their family tight. Sometimes their efforts are not appreciated as much as they deserve. All Mother's day aims to make remember everyone about the efforts of all the mothers around the world. Mother is not a person who should be remembered only on Mother's day, we should be kept in every moment of our life. So many entries received and by analyzing it, we selected the deserving ones as the winners. Even though Mother's day is in the vacation Women Development Cell celebrated the day through online and make everyone remember to appreciate their mothers.
