  International women's day celebration

The Dhwani Women Development Cell of NSS Training College, Ottapalam celebrated  International women's day on 6 March 2026 . The programme aimed to create awareness about women’s rights and the role of educators in promoting gender equality in society. The programme began with a Prayer and Acharyavandanam. The welcome speech was delivered by Dr. Aswathy K. S, Teacher Coordinator of the Women Development Cell.  The presidential address was delivered by Dr. Sheeba Krishnan. . The programme was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) Sonia K. Das, Principal of Government Law College, Thrissur, who also delivered the keynote address on the topic “Turning Women’s Rights into Lived Realities – Role of Educators”. In her speech, she explained that although many laws and rights exist for women, their real value lies in their implementation in daily life. She emphasized that educators have a significant responsibility in shaping the attitudes of young minds and in promoting equality, respect, and awareness about women’s rights. The programme also included felicitation speech by Dr. Lekshmi V (Staff Secretary). The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Anusree V, Student Coordinator of the Women Development Cell .

 Self Defence Training Programme 

The DHWANI Women Development Cell, in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and NSS Unit 301, NSS Training College, Ottapalam, organised a Self Defence Training Programme on 30 January 2026 at 9:30 AM in the General Hall of the college. The programme was conducted with the objective of empowering women students with basic self-defence skills, enhancing their self-confidence, and creating awareness about personal safety and situational preparedness. The event aimed to equip participants with practical techniques to protect themselves in challenging situations.

  Cancer Awareness Program 

The Dhwani Women Development Cell, in collaboration with NSS Unit 301, NSS Training College, Ottapalam, organised a Cancer Awareness Program on 22 January 2026 at 10.00 AM in the General Hall of the college. The programme was conducted with the objective of creating awareness about cancer, its causes, early symptoms, prevention methods, and the importance of timely diagnosis. The session aimed to educate students about adopting healthy lifestyle practices and reducing fear and stigma associated with cancer through proper knowledge and awareness. Mrs. Dhara V C, Co-ordinator, Ottapalam Welfare Trust, served as the resource person. She delivered an informative and engaging talk on various types of cancer, common risk factors, early warning signs, and preventive measures.

 Pledge on Gender Equality 

The Dhwani Women Development Cell, NSS Training College, Ottapalam, organised a Pledge on Gender Equality on 22 January 2026 at 9.30 AM in the General Hall of the college. The programme was organised with the objective of promoting awareness about gender equality and encouraging students to uphold values of fairness, respect, and equal opportunities for all, irrespective of gender. The pledge was lead by Anusree V, aimed to instil a sense of responsibility among students to stand against gender discrimination and to actively contribute towards building an inclusive and equitable society.
