Onam is marked by happiness , excitement and enjoyment
among all sections of people. As part of the onam celebration , Women
development cell of NSS Training College Ottapalam organized various
competitions. “ONAM MOMENTS “ ( photography competition ) and “ ആർപ്പോഇർർറോ” (reels
making competition) were conducted on September 1. Guidelines for various programme were also given. Dr. Seema Menon K P, teacher coordinator of women
development cell coordinated the event.
Nutrition is the cornerstone of life, good health , a disease-free body and the development of present and future generations. The Women Development Cell of NSS Training College Ottapalam , organized a virtual session on " FOOD AND NUTRITION " with a Nutrition expert. The session was conducted on 16 July 2022 at 10.30 am via google meet platform. This session mainly focused to create an awareness on GOOD NUTRITION and how it boosts Immunity. Programme started at 10.30 am with the prayer and aacharyaanusmaranam. The welcome address was given by Meghna K B (First year B.Ed physical science) . Then we had the session on FOOD AND NUTRITION by Ms. Sneha R , Nutrition consultant Nestle'. She began the presentation by defining what is nutrition and the need of a good nutrition. Different types of Nutrients and their sources were clearly explained throughout the session. The need for a Balanced diet and concept of "Know your portions " was very well highlighted in this session. Overall the whole session was informative and motivating. The teacher Coordinator Dr. Seema Menon K P Coordinated the whole Programme. The session ended with a vote of thanks by Meera Sebastian, Student coordinator of Women development cell. This talk has helped the students in understanding the need for a balanced diet and how to prepare a nutritious meal with adequate amount of all nutrients.
“Yoga is a light, which once lit, will never dim. The better your practice, the brighter the flame.” International Yoga Day is celebrated on June 21 every year to spread awareness about the invaluable benefits of Yoga. Practicing yoga might seem like just stretching, but it can do much more for your body than the way you feel, look and move. It even helps you with increasing flexibility, muscle strength and body tone. It improves respiration, energy and vitality. Theme of yoga day 2022 is “Yoga for Humanity”. The department of Physical Education in collaboration with Women Development cell of NSS training College Ottapalam celebrated International yoga day on June 21,2022 at 9.30 am at the College open auditorium. More than 150 participants were present during the session including B.Ed , M.Ed students and teachers. The programme began with prayer and aacharyaanusmaranam. The welcome address to our programme was given by Sruthi P of first year B.Ed malayalam. Our Principal Dr.Ampili Aravind Inaugurated the programme and delivered the Inaugural address. Yoga Demonstration and training for our programme was led by Mr. K. Premkumar, Engineer at KSEB. He is a yoga trainer & evaluator- Ayush Ministry ,Govt. of India and also an all India radio resource person. Throughout this session sir highlighted about the need of doing yoga as a wholesome exercise which should be included in our lifestyle to stay fit and healthy. The session began with a warming up of spine and muscles and later moved to Surya Namaskar which helps in providing strength and for improving posture. Later he demonstrated different asanas like chakrasan, uttanpadasan, shalbhasan, dhanurasan, sarvangasan etc. and also mentioned about its importance. All the teachers and students practiced yoga for about 2 hours in the provision of the resource person. Through this session sir was able to ignite the minds of students in pursuing yoga to stay healthy and happy. Later the session was handled by Dr.Seema Menon K P , Associate Professor of our college ,teacher Coordinator of Women Development Cell and also a Yoga trainer and evaluator Ayush Ministry, Govt. of India. Mam explained about the different pranayama and later led a guided meditation for relaxation. A yoga Pledge was taken at the end of the session . As a whole this programme encouraged the students to practice yoga and meditation on a regular basis for a healthy body and mind. The function ended with a vote of thanks by Sai prasad from first year B.Ed Mathematics.
Women Development Cell of NSS training college conducted an online cookery programme "MAGIC IN MINUTES" , a live demonstration of three quick recipes by Ms. Sneha, a culinary consultant in association with Nestle India Ltd. The programme was scheduled on 18th June 2022 at 12 noon via google meet. Dr. Seema Menon K P ,Teacher coordinator of Women Development cell Coordinated the event. The session initiated with the welcome address by Jisha P. This was followed by a live demonstration of the three recipes by Ms. Sneha R, Culinary and activation consultant, Nestlé. She prepared three dishes which included Traffic light, veggie delight and coconut rice. The presentation of the dishes was indeed good and outstanding. Amritha C conveyed the vote of thanks for the session and it marked the end of the programme.
The Women Development cell of NSS training college Ottapalam organized a session on WOMEN EMPOWERMENT : A talk by Ms. Roopa George on May 28,2022 via google meet platform. This session was mainly focused on empowering the young minds so that Women can take up the same responsibilities as men and do a wonderful job in showcasing their talents. The session started at 10.30 am with prayer and aacharyaanusmaranam. The Welcome speech was given by Rasmi.S (First year M.Ed).Our beloved Principal Dr.Ampili Aravind delivered the Inaugural address and Inaugurated the session. Then we had a session of the Invited talk by Ms.Roopa George. She is a social entrepreneur ,a passionate dancer, Environmentalist ,moreover a business women who made her imprints in various fields of life. Throughout the session she shared her own experiences in handling her life as a social worker and Humanitarian. She highlighted about the need of smart work along with the hard work and also Enlighted us with the need for developing a sense of gratitude for everything in life. "Bloom where you are planted " was her motto. Her words were truly encouraging and motivating. The session ended with a vote of thanks by Neha.S (first B.Ed Maths).We believe that this talk helped them to understand that no society can progress with the women lagging behind and empowerment needs to start on with women involvement in different aspects of life.
"MOTHERHOOD: All love begins and ends there". Mother's Day is celebrated on May 8 of every year. Mother's Day is an occasion which is celebrated in various parts of the world to express respect, honor, and love towards mothers. The day is an event to honor the contribution of mothers, acknowledge the efforts of maternal bonds and the role of mothers in our society. Women Development Cell of our college gave due importance to this day and conducted a letter writing competition: "LETTER TO YOUR MOM". This day makes people remember the importance and significance of mothers in their life and is observed as a day to give emphasis to the motherly figures around the world.
Every year International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8th.The
purpose of the day is to uphold Women’s achievements, recognize challenges and
focus greater attention on women’s rights. In accordance with this, The Women
Development Cell of NSS training College Ottapalam celebrated Women Empowerment
Week from March 1 to March 8. Various
competitions like Suggest a name to the women’s cell, Caption to a picture, Poster
making, Letter writing to an Inspired woman, Drawing Competitions and Haiku
Writing competitions were conducted. In addition to this the Women Development
Cell notice board was creatively prepared by the students of each optional subject,
which included quotes of world-famous Women, Inspired writings, and creative
art works. On March 8, a Programme was conducted in the online platform. The
International Women’s Day celebration started with prayer followed by the
welcome speech by Dr. Seema Menon K P, Women Development Cell staff
coordinator. Our dear Principal Dr. Ampili Aravind Inaugurated the programme
and gave the Inaugural address. Women’s Day Message was given by Dr. Beena
Philip, the Mayor of Kozhikode district. She Inspiringly talked about the UN
theme #Breakthebias and how as a woman we should overcome all the biases and
stereotypes around us to move forward. Her words were truly enlightening. Dr.
Lekshmi V, Staff Advisor of our college shared her views on Women’s Day. The
history and Importance of March 8th was clearly addressed by Sri.
Akhil K Sreedhar, Staff Secretary of our college. Mrs. Janani B, Vice
Chairperson of our college expressed her felicitations to this programme. MS.
Meera Sebastian, Women Development Cell Student coordinator proposed the Vote
of Thanks. A Flash mob: NOOPURA was conducted by the M. Ed first years which
marked the end of our programme.
